Parent Support and Family Therapy for Texas Families With Teens
When you and your teen keep missing each other, even well-intentioned conversations can quickly become another argument.
Support gives your family a place to slow the pattern down, understand what is happening underneath the conflict, and find more constructive ways to communicate.
I offer virtual services throughout Texas in English and Spanish.
Support for the family and/or teen
Depending on your family’s needs, support may include parent consultations, sessions with your teen, structured family sessions, or a combination of these services.
During the initial consultation, we will discuss what has been happening and which starting point may be the most appropriate.
When Every Conversation Turns Into an Argument
Maybe conversations escalate before you realize what happened.
You may feel like you are walking on eggshells, unsure what will lead to another argument or shutdown.
Your teen may refuse to talk, stay in their room, or respond to every question as though it is criticism.
You may have noticed changes in their mood, motivation, school performance, or behavior but cannot figure out what is behind them.
You may also be questioning yourself, wondering whether you are being too strict, too lenient, too involved, or not involved enough.
You are not the only parent who feels this way, and seeking support does not mean you have failed.
Parents Need Support, Not Blame
This work is not about deciding who is at fault.
Parents are often trying to protect their teen, maintain expectations, and keep the family functioning. Teens are often trying to establish independence while managing emotions, pressure, identity, and responsibilities they may not yet know how to explain.
Both experiences can be true.
My role is to help identify the pattern that keeps pulling everyone into the same conflict and create more opportunities for understanding, clarity, and connection.
What We Can Work Toward
The goal is not perfect communication or a home where no one ever disagrees.
Depending on your family’s needs, our work may focus on:
Understanding what happens before arguments escalate
Communicating expectations more clearly
Helping your teen express needs without immediately shutting down
Helping parents respond more intentionally
Reducing repeated power struggles
Creating clearer boundaries and responsibilities
Rebuilding trust after conflict
Identifying when a teen needs space and when more support is needed
Helping family members feel heard without turning every conversation into a debate
Progress may begin with one conversation going differently.
Privacy and Parent Involvement
Teens need enough privacy to speak honestly in therapy, and parents need enough clarity to understand the process.
We will discuss confidentiality, communication, and parent involvement at the beginning so that expectations are clear.
The exact level of parent involvement depends on the teen’s age, needs, treatment goals, safety considerations, and the service being provided.
